Download the Yale Access app from the App Store or Google Play Store. 2. Select **Set up a device**. 3. Scan the QR code on the inside of the Assure Lock 2, by the battery compartment. 4. Follow the in-app instructions to install the lock. 5. Install the Yale Z-Wave Smart Module into the compartment above the batteries. **NOTE:** You cannot install the Z-Wave module when the lock is powered on. 6. Follow the in-app prompts to complete the lock set up. 7. Once you select **Done** on the page below, finish the set up on your 3rd party Z-Wave app. **NOTE:** You have 30 seconds to complete the Z-Wave enrollment process once you select **Done**. ![](https://cdn.prod2.kustomerhostedcontent.com/media/5f6cab56313fd9001af97923/776578aafcf768cd871a5b98b1eacd26.png) ## I am upgrading my Yale Assure Lock 2 to work with my Z-Wave System, how do I set up the lock with my Z-Wave system? 1. Remove the lock's battery cover. 2. Remove 1 battery from the lock. 3. Insert the Yale Z-Wave Smart Module in the compartment above the batteries 4. Reinsert the battery. 5. From the Yale Access app, navigate to the **Lock Settings** **⚙** screen and select **Yale Smart Module**. 6. Follow the prompts in the app. ![](https://cdn.prod2.kustomerhostedcontent.com/media/5f6cab56313fd9001af97923/dc68499590e71f96c05d6ad24f708260.png) ## When using the Assure Lock 2 with Z-Wave, I cannot add entry codes to the lock from the Yale Access app. When setting up your lock with your Z-Wave system, you selected the option to manage pin codes from your Z-wave system. When selecting this option, you have removed the ability to add pin codes from the Yale Access app. You can enable this feature by following the steps below: 1. From the Yale Access app, navigate to the **Lock Settings** **⚙** screen. 2. Select **Yale Smart Module**. 3. Select **Pin Code Management**, and change your selection to **Yale Access**. **NOTE****:** We recommend only adding entry codes to your lock in 1 system at a time (either in the Z-Wave app or through the Yale Access app). ## I am using the Assure Lock 2 with Z-Wave but my Activity Feed in the Yale Access app is not updating when I am away from home. The Yale Access app Activity Feed can only update when you are connected to your lock via Wi-Fi or locally with Bluetooth. When using the Assure Lock 2 with Z-Wave, if you need to see your lock usage when you are away from home, you should look in your 3rd party Z-wave app. ## ## ## **Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module Specific Questions** * * * ## Is the Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module compatible with my lock? The Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module (AYR-MOD-WF1-USA and R-AYR-MOD-WF1-USA) is compatible with all Assure Locks and Keyed Assure Levers. Model numbers include: * YRL 216 * YRL 226 * YRD 216 * YRD 226 * YRD 256 * YRD 410 * YRD 420 * YRD 430 * YRD 450 * YRD 450-N * YRD 420-F * YRD 450-F ## How can I get longer battery life? Wi-Fi connectivity uses much more battery life than a Yale Bluetooth Smart Module with Yale Connect Bridge (Yale Access Upgrade Kit), as these standards use much less power than Wi-Fi.  Your Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module can still be paired with a Yale Connect bridge should you want to extend battery life. The WiFi module supports the same encryption as your phone or computer, helping make sure it is secure. Security you can trust: Two-factor authentication, biometric verification and bank grade encryption provide added security. So, you know only the right people have access to your home, at the right time. ## Will the Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module work with my home Wi-Fi? The Wi-Fi Module requires a 2.4 GHz wireless network. Most home routers or access points broadcast both 2.4 and 5 Ghz options at the same time. If your system is broadcasting two different networks, please make sure you select the 2.4Ghz network before starting setup. ## How do I set up Apple Home (HomeKit and Siri) with my Wi-Fi Smart Module once my lock is installed? In the Yale Access app, tap the **gear icon (⚙︎)** to get to **Lock Settings**. Scroll down and enable HomeKit. Go through the step-by-step setup process in the app.  **For Assure Lock 2 locks (including Assure Lock 2 Touch and Assure Lock 2 Plus):** Scan or enter the **8-digit HomeKit accessory code** found under the battery cover. **For Assure Levers and Assure Locks:** Scan the HomeKit accessory code found on your Wi-Fi module. **NOTE:** Please be aware the Wi-Fi Smart module does not provide remote HomeKit connectivity. Controlling HomeKit-Enabled accessories automatically and away from home requires a HomePod®, HomePod mini®, or Apple TV® set up as a home hub. It is recommended that you update to the latest software and operating system. ## How do I convert from the Yale Access Module to Wi-Fi Smart Module? This transition is typically not recommended, but will require you to remove the Yale Access Module from the Yale Access app via the **Factory Reset** option from the **Lock Settings** page (tap the gear icon ⚙). You will then remove a battery, install the Wi-Fi Smart Module, and set up the Wi-Fi Smart Module as a new device. ## How do I install the Wi-Fi Smart Module? 1. Remove a battery from your Assure Lock. 2. Install the module.  3. Open the Yale Access App. 4. From the menu icon in the Yale Access App (top left corner), select **Set up a device**. 5. Scan the Yale Access QR code. ## How do I update the Wi-Fi network being used? From the menu icon in the Yale Access App (top left corner), select connect to Wi-Fi network ## Do I have to connect my Wi-Fi module to my Wi-Fi network? If you do not configure your Wi-Fi module to your home Wi-Fi network, it will operate in Bluetooth only mode, similar to a Yale Access Module. ## ## **Yale Assure Lock 2 with Wi-Fi now supports 5GHz Wi-Fi: How to switch your lock to 5 Ghz** * * * ## Why Use a 5 GHz Wi-Fi Network * **Simpler Setup:** Compatible Assure Lock 2 smart locks now work with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks. There is no need to worry about picking the right band. * **Improved Performance:** Since 2.4 GHz is the default network for most connected devices, 5 GHz networks typically experience less traffic. This means less bandwidth competition, which results in faster performance.  * **Greater Flexibility:** 2.4 GHz reaches a longer range (at a slower speed) within your home, while 5 GHz is better for speed (within a shorter range). Your choice can depend on how far your smart lock is located from the Wi-Fi router and/or how many devices are connected to each network.  * **Easy Switching:**Change your Wi-Fi network in the Yale Access app or let your lock automatically connect to the best option. ## How to connect to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi Network? **If your Wi-Fi router has two separate networks (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, often labeled “5G” or “5GHz”):** **For iPhone users:** 1. Make sure your iPhone is connected to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi network (usually, 5 GHz Wi-Fi network names look like: "YourNetwork\_5G" or "YourNetwork-5").  2. Make sure your Wi-Fi module is running firmware version **1.0.32** or higher.  **To check your Wi-Fi Module’s version,** go to _Lock Settings > Device Information > Module Version_ in the Yale Access app. Note: Wi-Fi Module Updates are installed automatically whenever your lock is connected to Wi-Fi.   2.
