This article provides instructions for replacing the batteries in a Yale Approach Lock.

### How to Replace the Batteries in a Yale Approach Lock

❗**_It is important to replace all 4 batteries in your Yale Approach Lock at the same time._** We recommend only using standard alkaline non-rechargeable batteries. Lithium and extended life alkaline batteries will not provide you with the optimal experience and could result in not being alerted that your batteries are dying, or alerting you when they are not.

If you have replaced the batteries already and you are still receiving low-battery alerts, [this article](https://support.shopyalehome.com/en_us/false-battery-alerts-BJ3GZxWJP) provides troubleshooting.

#### 1\. Remove the lock from the mounting plate by pressing the release at the bottom of the lock.

#### 2\. Remove all 4 batteries from the battery compartment.

#### 3\. Replace all 4 batteries with standard non-rechargeable alkaline batteries.

Place the 1st and 3rd batteries from the left with the positive (+) ends pointing up, and the second and fourth batteries from the left with the positive (+) ends pointing down.

#### 4\. Reattach the lock to the mounting plate.

Slide it over the tailpiece and press until you hear a click. When the lock is reattached to the mounting plate, the lock LED will pulse white 2 times.

💡 **_Receiving low-battery alerts after replacing the batteries?_** These alerts should stop after you have operated the lock 3 times using the App. This should stop the low-battery alerts until the next time the batteries reach 25% capacity.
