This article provides general troubleshooting steps for issues that may occur with the Assure Lock 2 with Wi-Fi.

### Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module Installation

To use your Assure Lock 2 with Wi-Fi, you will need a Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module.

Install the module on the inside of the lock above the batteries.

**PLEASE NOTE:** You must remove your batteries prior to installing the Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module.

Make sure the module is fully installed in the lock before trying to connect your lock to Wi-Fi.

### I am trying to add the Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module to my Assure Lock 2 and the set up is failing.

If you're Assure Lock 2 is already set up with the Yale Access app and you wish to add Wi-Fi to your lock, please follow the steps below:

1. From the Yale Access App, navigate to the Lock Settings page by tapping the gear icon ⚙.
2. \- Select **Connect to Wi-Fi**.
3. Remove a battery from your lock, then insert your module.
4. Replace the battery.
5. Once the lock is powered on, remove the battery a 2nd time and wait 10 seconds.
6. Replace the battery again.
7. Follow the prompts in the app.

###

### The App Shows the Incorrect Lock State

If the Yale Access app shows that your lock is unlocked when it is locked, it may be due to the deadbolt not fully extending into the pocket hole. This may be due two causes:

1. The door is not fully aligned and the deadbolt is brushing up against the strike plate.
2. The pocket hole the deadbolt goes into is not deep enough.
    * To test this, physically swing your door ajar and retry to lock your door using the Yale Access app. If the door locks without issues, the depth of the pocket hole may be the issue.

If the circle turns grey and nothing happens, your lock may need to be recalibrated. Follow steps to recalibrate the lock available [here](https://support.shopyalehome.com/en_us/lock-needs-recalibration-SySEpUzo5).

If recalibration does not correct the issue, verify that your lock is handed correctly. Follow steps to rehand your lock [here](https://support.shopyalehome.com/en_us/how-to-fix-a-jammed-deadbolt-rJ4jCHuIS).

### My Lock's Wi-Fi Fell Offline

The Wi-Fi Smart Module’s firmware is designed to attempt to reconnect to the known home network if it falls offline. If the home network experiences an outage or a network connectivity issue, the Wi-Fi Smart Module is expected to restore its Wi-Fi connection when the home network recovers.

If the home network is back online and the Wi-Fi Smart Module has not restored its Wi-Fi connection, you may try rebooting your lock.

To reboot, follow these steps:

1. Remove the battery cover by sliding it up.
2. Remove and reinsert a battery.
3. Ensure the lock powers back up. It may take a couple of minutes for the Module’s Wi-Fi connection to reconnect.

When testing, it’s best to disable your phone’s Bluetooth temporarily, and check if you are able to establish a connection to your lock. If you can successfully establish a connection, you will also see a Wi-Fi icon to the upper right of the red or green circle in the Yale Access app.

If you continue to have issues with your Wi-Fi Smart Module recovering its Wi-Fi connection, it’s best to reach out to [Customer Support](https://shopyalehome.com/pages/contact).
