This article covers how to set up your lock in Google Home app or other Matter-enabled app after your lock was set up in the Yale Access app. This process will require a factory reset. Please read and follow each of the steps listed below before starting.

**Step 1**: Ensure you have the following:

2. A compatible mobile device.

❗For iPhone users, iOS 16.5 and above is recommended.

**Step 2****:** Make sure the Matter-enabled app you plan to use is downloaded on your phone and your Matter hub, and Thread border router is setup.

**Step 3****:** Ensure the following:

1. You are using the most **up to date version of the Matter-enabled app**. ❗For Google Home users, ensure you are on app version 3.34 or higher.

2. Your Matter over Thread border router is on **the most recent version of firmware.**

❗If the user is using Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max as their Matter hub with Thread, ensure they are on firmware version 26.X or greater.

**Tip****:** It can take up to 24 hours for a newly set up hub to receive an update. Expedite the process by power cycling the hub 10 to 20 minutes after it has been idle and waiting for the update process.

3. Your Matter over Thread border router and mobile device are on the **same wi-fi network.**
4. Ensure **IPv6 is enabled on your Wi-Fi router** and all the prerequisites outlined in this article are met. Refer to [Set up, manage, and control Matter-enabled devices with Google Home](https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/support.google.com/googlenest/answer/13127223?hl=en__;!!PF9VPw!L2QLQuQtukug-RzZykHNMK9WKRfspbKvCF1eaeMVWQvT6nJ9fxnIwAToYnepFa4cHWApKDLQ57SnckWinQaq1Pw$).

**Step 4****:** Factory Reset your lock in the Yale Access App

A factory reset erases all guest and owner data from your lock, restoring it back to its original, out-of-the-box settings. It also removes the lock from any owner or guest keychains that it is affiliated with.

You will need to be within Bluetooth range of your lock to reset it.

1. On your phone, open the Yale Access App and go to the lock circle screen which shows you whether your door is locked or unlocked.
2. Select the **Settings** menu by tapping the gear icon **(****⚙****︎).**
3. Select the device you wish to reset.
4. Scroll to **Factory Reset.**
5. Select **Reset Lock.**

Wait one minute before setting up again. The lock should flash a few times and give a happy beeping sound. After this, the entire keypad should start flashing white. Continue to step 6.

**❗**If the entire keypad is not flashing white after a few minutes, perform a hard factory reset (scroll to the bottom to see instructions for hard factory reset)

**Step 5****:** With the door open and the keypad flashing white, **press and hold the GEAR key** on your lock. The lock will extend the deadbolt. Once this happens, move on to the next step.

**Step 6:** The gear key should be blinking slowly, indicating that the lock is ready to be connected to Google Home App or other Matter enabled app via Matter over Thread. _If the gear stops blinking, simply press and hold it again to restart the process._ Once blinking, continue to the next step.

**Step 7: Navigate to Google** Home app or other Matter enabled app installed on your phone and add your lock to the Matter network. The Matter QR Code and numeric code are located on the side of the interior lock, under the battery cover if you need them during setup.

**❗**If you receive a notification to refer to the manufacturer’s guide for more information, please ignore and press “ok”.

**If the Matter set up continues to fail, please reach out to Yale Customer Support to have them confirm your lock is not currently configured within the Yale Access system. Please have your lock serial number ready, it starts with LJ and located on the side of your interior lock.**
