# How to Change Your Yale Lock Batteries

This article will cover how to replace the batteries in your Yale lock.

  

## For Assure Levers, Assure Pro SL, and Nest x Yale Locks

To replace batteries for Assure Levers, the Assure Pro SL, and Nest x Yale Locks:

  

1.  Remove the battery cover using the pin (included with your lock). Stick the pin in the hole located at the top of the lock while pulling the cover off, starting from the top of the lock.

    ❗_**Don't have the pin anymore?**_ _You can also use a paper clip to remove the cover._  
      
    
2.  You can now remove and replace the batteries in your lock.

## For Assure Lock (Gen 1 - YRD2X6/YRD6X2)

To replace batteries for Assure deadbolts and the Assure SL:

  

1.  Unscrew the screw at the top of the battery cover using a #2 Philips head screwdriver.

2.  Remove the screw and pull the cover off.

3.  You can now replace the batteries.

## For Assure Lock 2 (YRD4X0)

  
To replace batteries for the Assure Lock 2:

1.  Slide the battery cover up and out.
