A factory reset erases all guest and owner data from your lock, restoring it back to its original, out-of-the-box settings. It also removes the lock from any owner or guest keychains that it is affiliated with. To complete reset a Yale Smart Lock that is being used with the Yale Access app you must remove the lock from the app and physically reset the app.

**Important:** A Bluetooth (BLE) connection is required to Factory Reset your lock. If you no longer have your module or are unable to Factory Reset, please contact [Customer Support](https://shopyalehome.com/pages/contact).

**Removing the Yale Smart Lock from the Yale Access App.**

1. Open the **Yale Access App** and go to the lock circle screen, which is the screen that shows you whether your door is locked or unlocked.
2. Select the **Settings** menu (gear icon).
3. Select the device you wish to reset.
4. Scroll to factory reset.
5. Select **Reset Lock**.

Follow the steps below to perform a factory reset on your lock:

**Physically resetting a Yale Lock (without the Yale Access App):**

PLEASE NOTE: When the lock is reset to factory defaults all user codes (including the Master entry code) are deleted and all programming features are reset to their original default settings (see below).

Follow the steps below to factory reset the lock:

1. Remove the battery cover and batteries.
2. Remove the interior side of the lock to access the reset button.
3. The reset button (see image) is located beside the PCB cable connector.
4. While pressing the reset button (for a minimum of 3 seconds) reinstall batteries and release the reset button.
5. Replace the battery cover.

Following a factory reset, Master entry code creation is the only option available and must be performed prior to any other programming of the lock.
