## How is the Assure Lock 2 Plus different from the Assure Lock 2?

The Assure Lock 2 Plus has Apple Home Key technology built into the lock. Unlike our core Assure Lock 2 line, no module is needed for this technology. It is included in both our Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Assure Lock 2 Plus models. 

  

You can unlock your door with your iPhone using the Apple Home app and/or Apple Wallet by simply tapping your phone to your lock's keypad.

  

💡 **_iPhone XS or newer with iOS 15 or later OR Apple Watch Series 4 or newer with watchOS 8 or later are required._**

## What is needed for Assure Lock 2 Plus to work with Home Key?

To use Apple Home Key, you need:

  

*   an iPhone XS or newer with iOS 15 or later installed, **OR**
*   an Apple Watch® Series 4 or later with watchOS 8 or later installed.

  

💡**_Want to control your Assure Lock 2 Plus automatically and away from home?_** You will need a HomePod®, HomePod mini®, or Apple TV® set up as a home hub. Make sure to update to the latest software and operating system.

## How do I set up HomeKit on the Assure Lock 2 Plus?

You will be prompted to enable HomeKit when you set up the Assure Lock 2 Plus in your Yale Access app. You can also enable HomeKit in the Yale Access app, under **Lock Settings**. ## Where do I find the HomeKit accessory code?

You can find the HomeKit accessory code under the battery cover of your lock, or on the Quick Start guide provided with your lock. You will need this to set up your HomeKit integration.

## How do you share a Home Key?

For more than one user to have a Home Key, a HomePod, HomePod mini, or Apple TV set up as a home hub is required. Sharing a home key requires sharing access to your whole Apple Home. ## What Yale Smart Modules will work with the Assure Lock 2 Plus?

The following module will work with the Assure Lock 2 Plus:

*   Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module

## How do I control my Assure Lock 2 Plus away from Home?

The Assure Lock 2 Plus communicates with HomeKit over Bluetooth. 

  

You can control your Assure Lock 2 Plus remotely with:

*   a HomePod®, HomePod mini®, or Apple TV® set up as a home hub, **OR**
*   using the Yale Access app with the Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module

## Is DoorSense supported by HomeKit?

The DoorSense feature is only supported by the Yale Access app.

  

💡 **_DoorSense gives your smart lock the ability to detect if your door is open, ajar, or closed._**

## What Apple devices support Home Key?

You will need an iPhone® XS or newer with iOS 15 or later **OR** an Apple Watch® Series 4 or newer with watchOS 8 or later to use Apple Home Key.

## What is required to use an Apple Watch with the Assure Lock 2 Plus?

To use your Apple Watch to lock and unlock your door with Apple Home Key, you will need:

  

1.  an Apple Watch® Series 4 or newer
2.  watchOS 8 or later

  

💡 **_You can add a home key to Apple Wallet with the Home app on your iPhone._**

## Is Apple Home Key feature supported by Android smartphones?

Android smartphones do not support Apple's Home Key feature. You will need an iPhone or Apple Watch to use Home Key.

## Will my Assure Lock 2 Plus work with an Android smartphone?

Yes, Android smartphone users can use the Yale Access app to access the Assure 2 Plus lock. 

❗**_The Apple Home Key feature is not supported by Android smartphones._**

## What is the difference between HomeKit and Home Key?

Enabling Apple HomeKit allows you and the people you invite to use Siri® and the Apple Home app with your lock. 

Apple Home Key allows you to lock and unlock your door using secure NFC technology. 

With Home Key, you can simply tap your iPhone or Apple Watch to lock or unlock your smart lock. People you share the Home app with can add home keys to their Wallet.

## What is Express Mode?

[Express Mode](https://support.shopyalehome.com/en_us/what-is-express-mode-H1AxDJ4ph) is an Apple feature that allows you to unlock or lock your door by tapping your iPhone or Apple Watch. 

  

[Express Mode](https://support.shopyalehome.com/en_us/what-is-express-mode-H1AxDJ4ph) needs to be enabled during Home Key setup or later in your Apple Wallet app. iPhone® XS or later with iOS 15 or later or an Apple Watch® Series 4 or later with watchOS 8 or later are required.

## What if my iPhone or Apple Watch is lost or stolen?

If you set up your devices in the Find My app prior to your device missing, you can mark the device as missing in the app. Doing so will disable your Apple Wallet and Home Key inside the wallet.
