Your Yale smart device connects to the Yale Access App using Bluetooth. This lets you lock, unlock, and manage your device whenever your phone is nearby. Adding Wi-Fi lets you do the same things from anywhere, not just when you are standing next to it.

## What you can do once your device is on Wi-Fi

  

*   Lock and unlock your door remotely, from anywhere you have an internet connection.
*   See at a glance whether your door is locked, even when you're away.
*   Get instant notifications when your door is locked, unlocked, or left open. This requires the DoorSense accessory and the Door Ajar feature turned on.
*   Let in guests, family, or service providers when away from home.
*   Connect your device to voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

## Two ways to get your device online

  

How your Yale smart device connects to Wi-Fi depends on your device model. There are two options.

### Option 1 — Wi-Fi Smart Module

The Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module is an accessory that installs inside compatible Yale locks to add Wi-Fi connectivity.

  

_**Note:** the Assure Lock 2 line (YRD4XX series, e.g. YRD410, YRD420, YRD430, YRD450) has its own module._

If your lock supports a Smart Module, go to Device Settings → Yale Smart Module in the app to set it up.

### Option 2 — Yale Connect Wi-Fi Bridge

The Yale Connect Wi-Fi Bridge is a small plug-in accessory that connects your lock to your home Wi-Fi, giving Bluetooth-only locks the same remote features.

  

_**Note:** the Bridge does not work with Yale locks that use Z-Wave or Apple HomeKit connectivity._

Plug the Bridge into a power outlet near your lock, then connect it to your device via the Yale Access app.

## How to connect in the Yale Access App

  

Once you have a Wi-Fi Smart Module installed or a Yale Connect Wi-Fi Bridge plugged in near your lock, connect it to your home network:

1.  Open the Yale Access App and navigate to the device settings.
2.  Tap the Settings (gear) icon, then select the Connect Bridge or Module setup option.
3.  Follow the app instructions to connect to your Wi-Fi Smart Module or Connect Wi-Fi Bridge.
4.  Select your home Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the network password.
5.  Wait for the app to confirm the connection. Your device will then show as connected over Wi-Fi.

  

**Note:** Keep your phone, your lock, and your Wi-Fi router close together during setup. Exact menu labels may vary slightly depending on your app version.
